Fontem Ventures Announces Research Alliance with Institute of Environmental Engineering at ETH Zurich, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology20.08.15
London, 20 August 2015 – Fontem Ventures, owner of popular e-cigarette brand blu, today announced it is partnering with the Institute of Environmental Engineering at ETH Zurich, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, to conduct scientific research into exhaled e-cigarette aerosols.
“This prestigious partnership with ETH Zurich is demonstrative of Fontem Ventures’ ongoing commitment to advancing scientific understanding of electronic vaping products, including the benefits they offer to current smokers and their overall role in public health,“ said Dr. Grant O’Connell, Lead Scientist at Fontem Ventures.
The study, due to be completed by the end of the year, will analyse the chemical characteristics and dynamics of exhaled e-cigarette aerosols under different environmental conditions, comparing nicotine vaping devices to emissions produced by other consumer products.
“Conventional tobacco cigarettes and vaping products are fundamentally different,” said Dr. O’Connell. “This research will help us more clearly define – from a scientific perspective – the vast chemical differentiations between exhaled e-cigarettes vapours and exhaled tobacco smoke.”
Professor Jing Wang at the Institute of Environmental Engineering at ETH Zurich and Group Leader of Air Quality and Particle Research at the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Fontem Ventures. They are at the forefront of scientific research into electronic vaping products and share ETH Zurich’s commitment to quality and high standards. This collaboration is an significant step towards enhancing global understanding of electronic nicotine delivery products and the role they can play in reducing tobacco-related disease.”
